Dacos (Cretan Barley Rusks salad – PAXIMADIA)

What is DAKOS?
DAKOS is a delicious Greek recipe from the island of Crete for a unique salad with barley rusks! Cretan Dakos is often served as a salad, a light meal, or as part of an array of mezedes. Its basis is a Cretan dry barley rusk (called paximadia in Greek). Dakos is a Vegan dish.
Instructions to prepare your Dakos:
Slightly sprinkle the rusks with water. Pour a tablespoon CRITIDA EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL SEASONED WITH OREGANO on each daco, or more if you like. Grate the tomatoes and spread them over each daco.
Add salt, fresh mizithra or feta cheese, Greek table olives and Cretan oregano and your Dacos is ready.

4 barley rusks (they are round)
4 ripe tomatoes
1/4 kilo fresh mizithra or feta cheese
Table olives
oregano
salt if you want
1 tbsp CRITIDA EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL SEASONED WITH OREGANO for each barley rusk
