Information Event for the Promotion of the Traditional Cretan Olive Grove in Settlements of the Municipality of Phaistos by ELMEPA

The Hellenic Mediterranean University / Special Account for Research Funds will present at an information event to be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 7:30 PM, at the Events Amphitheater of the “Markos Karanastasis” Indoor Gymnasium in Heraklion, the research project: “Informing and Raising Residents’ Awareness, Promotion and Promotion of the Traditional Cretan Olive Grove in Settlements of the Municipality of Phaistos, Messara”, Local Program CLLD/LEADER, Messara, Local Action Group: Heraklion Development AEE-OTA.

The aim of the project is to highlight, protect and revive the traditional Cretan olive grove through studies, research, promotion, information and awareness-raising activities for the residents of the settlements of Tympaki, Kamilari, Klima, Lagoli, Magarikari, Pitsidia, Alithinia, Antiskari, Pigaidakia and Pompia in the Municipality of Phaistos.

From the perspective of ELMEPA, the Scientific Manager of the project is Mr. Andreas Anastasakis, while the Scientific Associate of the project is Mr. Michalis Papailiakis.

The research results and the project website will be presented at the event. The results of the project, along with photographic material from the visits to the centuries-old olive groves of the above settlements, are included in the special volume of the project, which will be distributed free of charge to the participants.

The event will be coordinated by the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Professor Athanasios Malamos, while the Rector, Professor Nikos Katsarakis, and a representative of the Heraklion Development Association-Local Government will deliver a welcome address. The event will be open to the public.
